Then $149 a Year Starts, Quietly

Standalone Bizee agent service costs $149 annually once the included term expires. The figure is published and the company is not hiding it.

What nothing publishes is the moment of transition. A free service does not send up a flare on the day it stops being free, and the anniversary of a formation order is a date most owners stopped thinking about within a week of placing it. The renewal is not a trap; it is simply a scheduled event with no natural reminder attached to it, and those are the events that catch people.

Two South Dakota Clocks That Belong on One Calendar

The second clock is the state's, and it is shaped unusually.

South Dakota does not hand every business a shared deadline the way states with a fixed spring date do. Your annual report obligation is keyed to the month your entity was originally filed, and it is a month rather than a date. The online form opens on the first day of that month, which is also the earliest the state will take the filing from you, and the window shuts on the last day of the same month. Nothing is appended to the end of it. Arrive on the first of the next month with nothing filed and you are delinquent, which adds $50, and an entity left in that condition for something like two months gets administratively dissolved by the Secretary of State. The report itself costs $55 online or $70 on paper.

So two silent expirations can land in the same stretch of calendar for a company formed through Bizee: the month your free coverage runs out, and the month your report window opens and closes. Neither one announces itself, and only one of them carries a fine.

Filing Bizee Out of Your South Dakota Record

South Dakota moves an agent appointment with a single statement of change, the instrument that resets your registered office, your agent, or the pair of them in one motion. Skip the hunt for a form number. This state titles its business documents and leaves them unnumbered, so a guide that hands you a South Dakota form code is describing paperwork nobody ever printed.

It is submitted to the Secretary of State here in South Dakota. Electronically the charge is $10. On paper it becomes $25, because the state attaches a $15 surcharge to anything arriving by mail, which is also why the downloadable PDF prints the larger figure on its face while the statutory charge underneath is ten dollars. The agent you are leaving does not sign the document, does not approve it, and is not notified by you.
